Taste of Health Set for November 14, World Diabetes Day
With diabetes now a global epidemic, the Ruby A. Neeson Diabetes Awareness Foundation, Inc., is doing its part to bring awareness to the disease that affects some 347 million people worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The American Diabetes Association reports that in 2012, 29.1 million Americans had diabetes.
As part of its work to help reduce the growing number of diabetes diagnoses, the Ruby A. Neeson Diabetes Awareness Foundation, Inc. (www.fightdiabetesnow.org), a nonprofit, will hold Taste of Health from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 — also World Diabetes Day. The event to promote healthy eating will include healthy food samples. It will take place at the Allegre Point Senior Residences (community center) in Decatur, located at 3391 Flat Shoals Road.
Attendees may enjoy tastes from Chef Rolando “Ro” Cantrell, director of nutrition and cooking class instructor for the Ruby A. Neeson Diabetes Awareness Foundation, Inc. Cantrell also is the owner of Cantrell Occasions LLC, a full-service catering and personal chef company.
Vendors for the November 14 event will include Arden’s Garden, NspireHealthyLiving (www.nspirehealthyliving.com) and others.
