Banner Year for Author Kimberla Lawson Roby
What a year 2013 is shaping up to be for New York Times bestselling author Kimberla Lawson Roby! Roby (www.kimroby.com), creator of the widely popular Rev. Curtis Black series, celebrates a milestone in May — with the publication of the 10th installment in her fiction series on corruption in the church. “A House Divided” (Grand Central Publishing) releases on May 7, 2013, and focuses on the clergyman’s son and the birth of his own child, adding up to big-time drama between the mother of the father-to-be and the mother of his pregnant girlfriend.
In February, Roby took home the 2013 NAACP Image Award, Outstanding Literary Work, Fiction, for her novel The Reverend’s Wife. This fall, Writer’s Digest magazine will feature her as its September 2013 cover story.
Here’s more on “A House Divided”
On the day of Racquel's baby shower, Charlotte and Vanessa have a major blowup and the stress sends Racquel into early labor. Curtis is displeased with Charlotte's behavior, something that slowly but surely drives a new wedge between them. At the same time, Curtis is consumed with church business and trying to uncover who is behind a series of mysterious letters that threaten to expose his biggest secret.
Increasingly furious with his mother, Matthew gives Charlotte an ultimatum — treat Racquel and her mom with respect or she'll be cut off from seeing the baby altogether. This sends Charlotte down a road of revenge. Once again, the Black household is torn apart, and it will take a miracle for anyone to recover.
