Jeffrey Kalinsky does it again! For this years Jeffrey Fashion Cares, the feature designer is probably the most exciting designer in the world right now: Jason Wu, who made the dress for Michelle Obama to wear to the Inaugural Ball this year.
At last night's kick-0ff party for this years event, Jason Wu himself was there and was thoroughly charming, had great things to say about Jeffrey Kalinsky; he says Jeffrey's huge in New York and he's the reason Jason agreed to come and be part of this years event. A very nice, unassuming young man who told me, surprisingly enough, that he hasn't yet met Michelle Obama (someone else picked up the dress for her) and he didn't even know it was for her until he saw pictures in the news the morning after the ball. He hopes to meet her next week at the Washington Correspondence Lunch. He was wearing casual pants and a sweater and he looked like a college kid.
When congratulated on scoring the fashion coup of the year, he smiled and shrugged and said "There are a lot of talented people out there." I hope to have images to share with you later. All in all, it was a fabulous event.
